Aceros Alfa has placed an order with Danieli Service that will finalize the transformation of the plant into a state-of-the-art operation, including a complete new roughing mill with another seven ESS H-V cantilever stands, including all electrical controls and automation, to replace the existing 3-high stand. Danieli Automation will install automation for RM control. All the guides will be supplied by Morgårdshammar, together with the complete pass design, and supervision and technical assistance will be provided by Danieli Service.

For several Aceros Alfa has trusted Danieli not only through Danieli Service but also with other two projects, the first in August 2013 for the new water treatment plant, by Danieli Systems; and the second in January 2018 for a new reheating furnace by Danieli Centro Combustion.

The first phase of the project led to a yearly production increase of 30%, and a significant reduction in transformation costs.

Once the most recent order has been filled, Aceros Alfa will have the most modern, lean plant in the region, with a production capacity of 50 tph of deformed bars, rounds, flats and angles starting from billets of 150 and 130 mm square.

The new configuration will be ready to startup at the beginning of 2020.
