First ECR-Mi.Da. plant in China

Guilin Pinggang Iron & Steel has ordered from Danieli the most efficient and environmentally friendly plant for the production of 1.2 Mtpy of wirerod and rebar.

Located beside the beautiful Li River and tourist resort, subject to a very strict environmental policy, Guilin Pinggang will be the first steelmaker in China to operate an ECR Endless Casting Rolling, energy-saving, low-emission plant.

The configuration for the new Mi.Da. micromill chosen by Guilin Pinggang is: 

> Twin-strand continuous casting machine, featuring ultra-high-speed FCC® Power Mould

> Induction furnace for billet temperature equalization

> Rolling mill featuring horizontal/vertical SHS stands

> In-line UFG Process for wirerod and straight bars

> Patented Direct Rolling and Bundling (DRB).

The whole project will be carried out by Danieli China. Plant startup is scheduled by July of 2019.

Thanks to Danieli Mi.Da. Endless Casting Rolling technology, liquid steel is transformed into finished products in less than 15 minutes. The process, continuous and stable, allows casting and rolling of an endless billet for hours and hours, thus achieving high efficiency in terms of yield and energy savings, leading to the most cost-efficient rebar production available on the market.

Thanks to the best CapEX and OpEx, Danieli Mi.Da., has become the most popular solution for regional-mills, making extensive use of local scrap. This is 15th Mi.Da. micromill ordered from Danieli.
