Main bloom caster modernization at Anshan I&S, China

Anshan I&S contracted Danieli to modernize its bloom caster at Steel Plant #1 in Liaoning Province.
After the revamping, the caster will be able to cast high-quality grades in 320x410 mm rectangular blooms plus 280 and 350 mm round blooms.

The product mix will include high-volumes of demanding high-carbon steel like bearing and tyre cord steels, the internal quality of which will be closely monitored by LPC system.

The upgraded caster will feature new Danieli moulds with dedicated mould level control and stopper rod system paired with the oscillating benches to guarantee stable oscillation and top surface quality.

Two stirring systems, one “in the mould” and another one with two positions along the radius to act as a Strand or Final EMS depending on section and steel grade produced, also will be installed. Above all, to be noted, the Q-SOFT package, with seven individual high-force modules for soft and hard reduction.

Full L1 and L2 will be installed with Danieli Automation Liquid Pool Control (LPC) system for accurate and balanced secondary cooling, controlled stirring and reduction processes for each type of steel produced.
