G-Steel orders four-high, skinpass mill for quality rolled strip

Thailand-based hot-rolled coil producer G Steel –part of Nippon Steel Corporation– decided to add cold rolling capability to its industrial plant in Rayong, in eastern Thailand.

To do this, G Steel relied on Danieli technology and manufacturing capability of the nearby Danieli manufacturing centre –Danieli Thailand– to implement a new, four-high skinpass mill for quality strip.

The new plant, which will add value to up to 720,000 tpy of hot-rolled strip produced at the same site, is scheduled to start operation in April 2026, will be supplied on a turnkey basis, including automation controls and electrical parts.

The mill will feature technological equipment of HAGC-Hydraulic Automatic Gap Control cylinders and E-Type bending blocks for high-accuracy of gap adjustment parameters and flatness control, to ensure top-quality strip.

Most of the skinpassed strip will be sold on the local market and used by local industries.

Two more Danieli skinpass mills are currently under construction in the South-East Asia region.
