Kroman Çelik goes for Digimelter

Part of Youcel Boru Group, Kroman Çelik confirmed its trust in the Danieli Team by placing an order of a new “digital meltshop” that will be installed in parallel to the existing meltshop, supplied by Danieli in 2010.

Kroman Çelik, one of the largest steel producers in Turkey, is well known for its outstanding plant performances and again, contracted Danieli to supply one of the best performing meltshops worldwide.

The choice of Digimelter comes from the vision to expand its product portfolio, increase flexibility in charge mix materials, reduce energy/electrode consumption and CO2 emissions.

The new Digimelter Zerobucket furnace, powered by the Q-One power feeder and coupled with the Danieli Endless Charging System (ECS), will have a tapping capacity of 150 tons.

The order also includes a twin-ladle furnace and auxiliaries such as fume and water treatment plants with Zero-Liquid-Discharge technology.

The Digimelter will be equipped with the most modern technologies following a “Zero Man Around” concept and allowing full flexibility in the EAF charge mix, ranging up to 70% of virgin material like HBI. The Q-One system will allow renewable energy sources to connect directly into the Q-One Power system by the DC link.

The plant will be the first of its kind in Turkey and will represent the benchmark for its high flexibility in charge mix and lowest consumptions.

The new plant is expected to turn into operation at the end of 2025.
