Strategic caster upgrading for portfolio expansion

Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel has placed significant orders with Danieli to upgrade its casting machine capabilities in Sohar, Oman. This upgrade aims to diversify the product mix and enhance efficiency, enabling the production of various steel product formats such as round 450 mm, round 380 mm, and 250x350 mm for rail applications.

The collaboration with Danieli will introduce advanced automation and control systems, including final electromagnetic stirrers to ensure higher precision and quality in steel production, particularly for rail steel applications.

The upgraded technology will allow Jindal Shadeed to access new markets and attract a broader customer base by offering advanced capabilities and new special steel grades. This diversification will expand a comprehensive portfolio to enable the company to cater to various sectors, including construction, oil and gas, automotive, power generation, infrastructure, and chemical industries, thereby expanding its market reach.

The new products will be gradually cast starting from July 2025 through March 2026 according to a "phased" intervention to minimize outage time.
