Danieli Centro Met technology to modernize Continuous Caster for round Blooms at Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann in Duisburg (Germany)
Following the recent order to Danieli Corus for the Hot Repair of the Blast Furnace 'B' Hot Blast System, the German producer of high-quality steel products has awarded Danieli Centro Met an order for the modification of strand N.1 of the CCM for round blooms N. 2.
On March 14th, 2016, Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann (Germany) chose Danieli Centro Met to modernize the Continuous Casting Machine N. 2 for round blooms at its plant in Duisburg.
The CCM N.2 is actually configured with 270 ton ladle, 10.5 m radius, 5 strands, and is producing round blooms up to 406 mm diameter for engineering steel grades.
The order covers the modification of strand N.1 and includes the installation of a new Mould with Danieli-patented Eco Power Mould copper tubes, a new Mould Oscillator based on Danieli-patented Hy-Power, a new Mould Electro-Magnetic Stirrer (M-EMS) manufactured by Danieli Rotelec, and a completely re-designed secondary cooling with air-mist. In addition, the company will install the Hi-Inspect, a special system produced by Danieli Automation, that is able to measure in real-time the surface quality of the cast blooms. Danieli Automation will also provide the electrical and process control systems for the modifications.
Danieli will be responsible for the full execution of the contract, including engineering, manufacturing, erections and advisory services for the achievement of the guaranteed performances.
Installation and startup of the new systems is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2016.
